Update #7: As of Thursday July 23, 2026, all S-NPP OMPS Nadir Mapper (NM) science products are approved for operational use and PDA OPS subscriptions for these products will be enabled at 20:30 UTC, July 23, 2026. Direct Broadcast (DB) users can use the equivalent S-NPP OMPS NM Community Satellite Processing Package (CSPP) LEO products for operations.
Update #6: Engineering completed S-NPP spacecraft recovery efforts on Friday, July 17, 2026. The S-NPP spacecraft was returned to nominal mission point as of 19:59:31 UTC on July 15, 2026. ATMS was placed in operational mode on July 16, 2026 at 16:15:43 UTC. VIIRS was placed in operational mode on July 16, 2026 at 19:39:45 UTC. CERES was placed in operational mode on July 17, 2026 at 14:22:00 UTC. OMPS was placed in operational mode on July 17, 2026 at 15:59:32 UTC.
As of Monday July 20, 2026, all S-NPP ATMS and VIIRS science products are approved for operational use and PDA OPS subscriptions for these products will be enabled at 19:25 UTC, July 20, 2026. The High Rate Data (HRD) will be enabled at 20:14 UTC, July 20, 2026. Direct Broadcast (DB) users can use the equivalent S-NPP ATMS and VIIRS Community Satellite Processing Package (CSPP) LEO products for operations.
Update #4: The S-NPP spacecraft entered a non-nominal state at ~14:50 UTC on July 10, 2026. All science data remains unavailable and will not be recoverable until further notice; however, all instruments are in a safe state.
PDA OPS requests for all S-NPP Science products were disabled at 01:30 UTC on July 11, 2026.
NOAA-21 remains the primary JPSS series spacecraft, and Key Performance Parameters from its instruments continue to be delivered. S-NPP is a Tertiary satellite with no performance and latency requirements.
