Update #2: GOES-R has successfully completed the transition of its SWPC, GRB, and AWIPS interfaces to the GCCS. For users of the GRB, please be advised that the "production_cluster" attribute is currently not included in the data feed. Notifications will be issued regarding any future updates to the data contents.

The PDA data delivery migration from the on-prem GOES-R Ground System to the GCCS, which was originally set to begin on June 29, 2026 and complete on July 2, 2026, has been postponed. A new timeline for this transition phase is under development. Further information concerning the updated schedule will be provided in a forthcoming announcement.

Update #1: On June 25, 2026, GOES-R and SOLAR-1 data product generation and distribution to SWPC, AWIPS, and GRB users will transition from the on-premise GOES-R Ground System to the GEO Cloud Compute Subsystem (GCCS).  This planned transition will follow the schedule below:

1415 - 1445 UTC: SOLAR-1 and GOES-19 CCOR-1 data sent to SWPC

1500 - 1600 UTC: GRB data feed transition

1820 - 1900 UTC: GOES-18 and GOES-19 SCMI and GLMFD data sent to AWIPS

The transition of GOES-R data provided to PDA is planned to begin on Monday, June 29, 2026 and complete by Thursday, July 7, 2026. More details will be provided on that phase of the transition in the coming days.

NOTE: The timing of the above activities are dependent on SvTRR board recommendation on June 24, 2026 to proceed with the transition. Activities are also subject to Critical Weather Day (CWD) status at the time of transition. If CWD is declared for the above times, each event will incur a 1-day delay until CWD is not in effect.

Topic:  Migration of GOES-R Data Operations (DO) to GEO Cloud Compute Subsystem (GCCS)

Date/Time Issued: July 6, 2026 1935 UTC

Product(s) or Data Impacted: All GOES-R and SOLAR-1 data products

Date/Time of Initial Impact: June 25, 2026 1415 UTC

Date/Time of Expected End: July 9, 2026 1700 UTC

Length of Outage/Event: 14 days

Details/Specifics of Change: The GEO program is scheduled to conduct a Service Transition Readiness Review (SvTRR) for its GEO Cloud Compute Subsystem (GCCS) on June 24, 2026.

Following a successful review, a transition of the operational GOES-R product generation and distribution from the on-premise GOES-R Ground System to the GCCS will commence on June 25, 2026. This week-long transition will follow a phased approach:

This notification serves to inform GOES-R data users of the scheduled transition, enabling proactive monitoring of data streams throughout the migration period. Should any anomalies in standard product distribution be observed, users are encouraged to contact the User Services team via SPSD.Userservices@noaa.gov during normal business hours, or engage the 24x7 ESPC Help-Desk utilizing the contact information provided below.

The expectation is that these changes to the GOES-R data interfaces will be largely transparent to end users with only the following metadata changes to GOES-R data products expected:

AWIPS Products: Sectorized Cloud Moisture and Imagery (SCMI) and GLM Gridded (GLMFD)

GRB data; L1b and L2 Products via PDA

Additional details and timing will be provided at a later date, prior to the transition.
