Topic: Jason-3 maneuvers

Date Issued: June 18, 2026 1514Z

Product(s) or Data Impacted:Jason-3 Operational Geophysical Data Records (OGDRs)

Date/Time of Initial Impact:
June 23, 2026  22:02:47

Date/Time of Expected End: TBD

Length of Event: Any impact to products would be 30 minutes before and up to 2 hours following each maneuver.

Details/Specifics: Jason-3's LRO ground track is being shifted -4km June 22-26, 2026 where it will remain until July of 2027. It will be accomplished with multiple maneuvers.

The first maneuver will consist of two thrusts.
The 1st thrust is scheduled for 23-June-2026 starting at 22:02:47 Z with an expected increase of around 150 m in the semi-major axis.
The 2nd thrust is scheduled for 24-June-2026 starting at 00:50:35 Z with an expected increase of around 150 m in the semi-major axis.

The maneuvers may result in large radial orbit errors in the OGDRs. Over any ocean points, this will affect the sea surface height, but not the wind and wave content in the products.

The date and times of the second maneuver (consisting of two more thrusts) will be available on the 24th, depending on the efficiency of the 1st maneuver.
