Topic: Sentinel-1C Operations Temporarily suspended from June 9 to June 23, 2026

Date/Time Issued: June 09, 2026  1900 UTC

Product(s) or Data Impacted:  Sentinel-1D SAR Winds and SAR Tropical Cyclone (TC) Winds

Date/Time of Initial Impact: June 09, 2026 0000 UTC

Date/Time of Expected End: June 23, 2026 2359 UTC

Length of Outage: 15 days

Details/Specifics: Per the European Space Agency (ESA) schedule, the Sentinel-1C satellite is undergoing repositioning to align with Sentinel-1D ground tracks. This maneuver will establish a standard 6-day revisit cycle, expanding from the previous 1-day interval. As a result, Sentinel-1C operations are temporarily suspended from June 9 through June 23, 2026. During this period, NESDIS/OSPO will halt the production of Sentinel-1C Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Tropical Cyclone (TC) wind products. Operational statuses for other assets, including Sentinel-1A, RadarSat-2, and RCM1, RCM2, and RCM3, remain unaffected. On June 29, Sentinel-1A operations are scheduled for termination, finalizing the new Sentinel-1 constellation composed of the two most recent units. Users should note that the orbital setup of this updated constellation varies slightly from the previous Sentinel-1A/B configuration, resulting in a 1-day shift in the 6-day revisiting pattern within the Sentinel-1 observation timeline.
