Update #3: The discontinuation applies exclusively to Metop-B GOME-2 product files, which are identified by "m01" in their filenames. Metop-C GOME-2 product files, which contain "m03" in the filename, will remain in production and are not impacted by this change.
Update #2: This serves as the two week reminder notification regarding the retirement of the Version 8 Total Ozone Retrieval Algorithm, scheduled for June 15, 2026.

Date/Time of Initial Impact: June 15, 2026 0000 UTC
Date/Time of Expected End: NA (Termination of Product)
Length of Impact: NA
Details/Specifics of Change:
Due to the natural degradation of the GOME-2 instrument's optical components on MetOp-B, the signal intensity (throughput) has significantly decreased. This aging process has led to increased noise and reduced accuracy in spectral measurements, negatively impacting the quality of derived products, such as the Aerosol Index.
As a result of this degradation, Office of Satellite and Product Operations (OSPO) intends to retire the GOME2 MetOp-B products on June 15, 2026.
