Details/Specifics: Artemis 2 launch. Here are the details for our request for MESO sectors for a April 01 22:24Z launch of Artemis 2. If there is a scrub between now and launch I will reach out and let you know on this request. GOES East MESO 1: 04/01 2024Z - 04/01 2354Z Center at 26N 78W to characterize launch weather. GOES East MESO 2: 04/01 2124Z - 04/01 2354Z Center at 26N 78W (shifted slightly east to provide further tracking down range if needed) GOES West MESO 2: 04/01 2124Z - 04/01 2354Z Center at 26N 78W The long duration GOES East MESO 1 request is for operational launch support. – highest priority National Interest item. The overlap of GOES East MESO 2 and GOES West MESO 2 is to obtain stereo imaging pairs for research on the launch plume. Both GOES East MESO sectors would provide high temporal sampling of the plume. – medium priority We would also like the SDM to conduct "enhanced monitoring" of the GFS and GFS-wave 04/01 12Z and 04/01 18Z model runs. This data is critical in determining risk modelling of possible abort splashdown conditions.
