Update #3: The ADR-11193 for the NOAA-20 Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS) Nadir Mapper TC SDR and GEO (SOMTC and GOTCO) has been re-scheduled to January 15, 2026.
Update #2: Due to the continued lapse of appropriations the ADR-11193 for the NOAA-20 Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS) Nadir Mapper TC SDR and GEO (SOMTC and GOTCO) has been re-scheduled to no earlier than December 9, 2025.
Update #1:.Due to a lapse of appropriations the ADR-11193 for the NOAA-20 Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS) Nadir Mapper TC SDR and GEO (SOMTC and GOTCO) has been re-scheduled to no earlier than November 25, 2025. Please also note the NOAA-20 V8TOz EDRs change detailed below. BUFR products will also be impacted.
Topic: NOAA-20 Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS) Nadir Mapper TC SDR and GEO (SOMTC and GOTCO) ADR-11193
Date/Time Issued: December 9, 2025 1432 UTC
Product(s) or Data Impacted: Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS)
Date/Time of Initial Impact: January 15, 2026 TBD UTC
Date/Time of Expected End: NA
Length of Impact: NA
Details/Specifics of Change:
NOAA-20 Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS) NM SDR contains 35-cross track (CT) low resolution data sets in the NOAA20 SDR, SOMTC. The new NOAA-20 tables below will enable 139 CT medium resolution data sets in the NOAA-20 OMPS NM SDR.
Compressed HDF5 File Size Increase Per Granule
NOAA-20 OMPS TC SDR (SOMTC) increase from ~500KB to 1.6MB
NOAA-20 OMPS GEO (GOTCO) increase from ~110KB to 170KB
Compressed HDF5 Daily Volume Increase (14 orbits * 80 granules per orbit)
NOAA-20 OMPS TC SDR daily will increase from .5GB to 1.8GB
NOAA-20 OMPS TC GEO daily will increase from .1GB to .2GB
Tables include:
OMPS-TC-STRAYLIGHT-LUT_j01
OMPS-TC-WAVELENGTH-GND-PI_j01
OMPS-TC-CF-EARTH-GND-PI_j01
OMPS-TC-EV-SAMPLE-GND-PI_j01
OMPS-TC-MACROTABLE-GND-PI_j01
OMPS-TBL-VERS-GND-PI_j01
The NOAA-20 V8TOz EDRs will also be impacted by this change, exhibiting smaller FOVs. Specifically, the number of cross-track FOVs per granule will increase from 35 to 139, while the along-track FOVs remain at 15. This effectively reduces the new cross-track FOVs to one-fourth the size of the current ones.
