The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) confirms the successful technical restoration of the Himawari-9 geostationary meteorological satellite. Its observation data is now being received reliably and without interruption.
JMA plans to transition primary operational duties from Himawari-8 to the restored Himawari-9. Data provision from Himawari-9 is currently scheduled to commence at 05:00 UTC on Tuesday, 26 November 2025.
