Details/Specifics of Change: 

During the migration of traffic from the old CBU BigIP F5 version to the newly upgraded version, there will be an interruption in both traffic flow and authentication for applications that rely on the F5 for SSL termination and authentication proxying. The F5 acts as both a server and a client in the connection path, decrypting and inspecting traffic before re-establishing a connection to the backend application. This role makes the transition point sensitive, both data flow and authentication to applications will be impacted while traffic is moved.

Impacts:

• Loss of authentication sessions for applications such as www, sa, imt, and any others whose certificates are managed on the F5.
• Temporary traffic interruption to those same applications while traffic failover occurs.
• Potential need to re-authenticate once services are restored.
• User-visible service disruption that may appear as application unavailability or login failures.
• Impact duration is dependent on how quickly traffic is shifted and connections re-established.
