Correction to Subject Line: - Product Outage/Anomaly: Correction - Update #1 NOAA-21 CrIs SDR Anomaly – Issued March 04,2025 0123 UTC
Update #1: The NOAA-21 CrIs SDR data has returned to nominal performance since 0635 UTC, March 03, 2025. Actions are currently underway to mitigate the risk of similar anomalies in the future.
Topic: NOAA-21 CrIS SDR Anomaly
Date/Time Issued: March 04, 2025 0131 UTC
Product(s) or Data Impacted: NOAA-21 CrIS SDR and derived products
Date/Time of Initial Impact: March 2, 2025, 1800 UTC
Date/Time of Expected End: TBD
Length of Outage: TBD
Details/Specifics of Change: NOAA-21 CrIS laser wavelength direct readout from the SDR products has been set at as the predefined filled value (670nm, 1550 nm, 2320 nm) since around 18:00 UTC of 2025-03-02, resulting in large bias of radiance produces of all three bands. However, the laser wavelength directly calculated from the RDRengineering packet is nominal.
The Cal/val team is investigating the root cause of the issue.
