Topic:  sftp Users Only. Unexpected results when listing PDA directories with the ls command

Date/Time Issued:  December 5, 2024 1711Z

Product(s) or Data Impacted:  Product availability is not affected by this issue.

Date/Time of Initial Impact: November 14, 2024 2100Z

Date/Time of Expected End: TBD

Length of Event: TBD

Details/Specifics:  This issue applies to sftp users only.

The updated sftp server deployed with PDA Release 4.8 changed the behavior of the ls command. It now identifies filelinks in the directory as symbolic links and lists their actual size, not the file size. It is possible to override this behavior by listing the files in the directory rather than the directory itself. Only some sftp users may be experiencing this issue depending on how the ls command is configured.

As an example, ls -al PDAFileLinks/NDE/OMPS/*  with a closing forward slash and an asterisk will provide the desired results.

Using the command ls -al PDAFileLinks/NDE/OMPS will return the symbolic link sizes, which are much smaller than the file sizes.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
