Update #2: This is a reminder for the DO.14.00.00 software update that will be taking place today (11/20) on the GOES-R Ground System. The planned go-live times are as follows:
Update #1: The implementation date for the DO.14.00.00 build has been moved to November 20, 2024
Topic: Install of DO.14.00.00 software build for GOES-16 and GOES-18
Date/Time Issued: November 20, 2024 1542Z
Product(s) or Data Impacted: GOES-16 & GOES-18 ABI L1b and CMI, GLM L2+, and SpWx L1b products
Date/Time of Initial Impact: November 18, 2024
Date/Time of Expected End: N/A
Length of Outage: N/A
Details/Specifics: On November 18, 2024, the DO.14.00.00 software update will be placed into operations on the GOES-R Ground System (GS). This release will bring improvements to the product generation and distribution of ABI L1b and CMI products; GLM L2 LCFA and gridded products; and Space Weather (SpWx) L1b products. A summary of the changes users should be aware of are provided below:
General Product Distribution
Improved efficiency of the network communication between the GS and PDA during retransmits, thereby reducing outage impacts
Better organization of critical files on the GS that support distribution to AWIPS
Update process of sending of File Transfer Notifications (FTNs) in order to improve distribution of GLM gridded data to AWIPS
Update to Product Distribution (PD) configurations for the Storage slot to allow for distribution of SpWx L1b products during checkout periods
ABI L1b and CMI
Increased control over the deployment of ABI Solar Calibration Target (SCT)-derived gains
Updates to the Temporary Dead-Row List (TDRL) algorithm in effort to reduce striping in ABI images resulting from intermittent detector latch-up conditions.
GLM L2+ (LCFA and Gridded Data)
Update the GLM L2+ geographic coverage extents provided in the product metadata to be the correct values
Permanently roll-in previous updates to reduce false lightning events for GLM LCFA product
SpWx L1b
Automate the deployment of proper SUVI Look-Up-Table (LUT) based on the state represented in the yaw-flip flag.
