Details/Specifics of Change:
The next Interface Data Processing Segment (IDPS) Block 2.3 maintenance release Mx10 (IDPS Mx I2.3.10.00) is scheduled to transition to operations on May 23, 2024.
The release includes OMPS NP algorithm change to enhance solar intrusion correction. The algorithm change is accompanied with a new OMPS NP Straylight PCT format.
This data format change for the OMPS NP Straylight Look Up Table (LUT) is for all three spacecraft: S-NPP, NOAA-20 and NOAA-21. The new LUT works with the IDPS Mx10 algorithm change for version 2022 solar intrusion correction. Additionally, the new LUT has an appended 2448 bytes added to the LUT for In-Band Straylight (IBSL) correction.
The OMPS NP algorithm change only applies to NOAA-20 and NOAA-21. The solar intrusion and correction is only in the Northern Hemisphere when the Solar Zenith Angle (SZA) is greater than 58 degrees. The NOAA-20 and NOAA-21 improved correction will change the radiances by up to 1% for SZA less than 88 degrees and for wavelengths less than 300 nm.
Please note: This release will not occur during a Critical Weather Day (CWD).
