Details/Specifics of Change: On October 16, 2023 the PR.12.08.00 software update will be made operational in the GOES-R Ground System. This update makes changes to the cadence of the Cloud Cover Layers (CCL) CONUS product and fixes an indexing issue that causes incorrect data to be placed in some metadata fields in the COD and CPS products produced by the COMP algorithm. 

Currently the CCL product is produced hourly for the Full Disk and CONUS sectors and every 5  minutes for the Meso sector. This update will increase the frequency of the CONUS product to be produced once every 5 minutes. An additional update will be made to CCL to help reduce instances of missing data in the CONUS images.

The improvements made to metadata calculations will impact the COD and CPS products produced by the Cloud Optical and Microphysical Properties (COMP) algorithm. This change will have a positive effect on all of the DQF percent attributes (e.g. percent_good_quality_qf) found in all the products, as well as the daytime_cloud_pixels and nighttime_cloud_pixels variables found in the COMP outputs.
