On May 16, 2023, the ABI Level 2+ Enterprise Cloud Cover Layers (CCL) Algorithm was found to be of Provisional quality after the product was shown to be meeting requirements at its Peer/Stakeholder Product Validation Review (PS-PVR). Following that review, distribution of the CCL product to PDA, along with archiving at CLASS and NODD, was initiated.
The ABI Enterprise Cloud Cover Layers product produces an estimation of the cloud fraction in 5 predefined atmospheric levels, as well as the total cloud fraction for each pixel.
