On March 22, 2022 at 06:00z, NOAA-20 VIIRS will perform its annual Emissive Band Calibration. Due to the VIIRS blackbody temperature changes during the calibration, the VIIRS science data quality may be affected for certain applications, but the data is expected to remain within specification.
Below is a timeline of the blackbody heating/cooling cycle:
March 22 06:00z - BB to 297.5K
March 22 09:00z - BB to 302.5K
March 22 12:00z - BB to 307.5K
March 22 15:00z - BB to 312.5K
March 22 18:00z - BB to 315K
March 22 21:00z - BB temperature control off
March 23 21:00z - BB temperature control on and set to 272.5K
March 24 00:00z - BB to 282.5K
March 24 03:00z - BB to 292.5K
