Update #1: This is a reminder for the NDE System Upgrade on February 19. Please note changes in red below.. GOES-R ASOS will be excluded in this upgrade.
Topic: NDE System Upgrade
Date/Time Issued: FebruaryM-B 5, 2020 2020 UTC
Product(s) or Data Impacted:M-B All NDE products
Date/Time of Initial Impact:M-B February 19, 2020 TBD UTC
Date/Time of Expected End: February 19, 2020 TBD UTC
Length of Outage: 2.5 hours
Details/Specifics of Change:M-B
This installation of NDE release 2.0.21 is planned to occur during back orbits. NDE will not be ingesting, processing or distributing data during installation. No data loss expected, but there will be a possible backlog of processing when installation is complete.
New products included in this release are:
Gridded VIIRS Land Surface Temperature and Albedo (LST/LSA):
Gidded VIIRS Land Surface Temperature and AlbedoM-B (LST/LSA) will take current operational LST/LSA from NPP and NOAA-20 as inputs to produce gridded LST/LSA in NetCDF format. The new system will provide state of the art gridding algorithms for land surface modelling. The products will improve the prediction accuracy of NCEP global and mesoscale models (GFS and NAM).
GOES-R ASR/CSR:
GOES-R All Sky Radiances and Clear Sky Radiances derived from GOES-R using Channels 7 - 16
HEAP Metop-C Radiance:
Metop-C Radiance for all channels using Hyperspectral Soundings Application algorithm
OMPS V8TOZ and V8TOS (S-NPP and NOAA-20):
The updates to V8TOz provide new adjustments table to provide better agreement between S-NPP and NOAA-20 Total Ozone EDR products.
The updates to V8TOS change the logic in the choice of methods to estimate the SO2. The new logic provides a more consistent product across the range of atmospheric SO2 loading from 0.5 to 10 DU and gives better agreement with NASA OMPS SO2 products.
GOES-R SCP ASOS:
GOES-R Satellite Cloud Product Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS) will be replacing the GOES-15 SCP ASOS products.
Please note: This upgrade will not be performed during Critical Weather Day (CWD).
