Details/Specifics of Change:M-B From January 13- 20, 2020, EUMETSAT plans to perform a decontamination of the Meteosat-11 (Prime satellite; 0M-BM-0 longitude) SEVIRI instrument.M-B Meteosat-11 data will be interrupted during this time period and Meteosat-9 back-up data, rectified to 0 degrees, will be disseminated to support the 0M-BM-0 mission.M-B Below is the Meteosat-11 (Met-11) SEVIRI decontamination procedure schedule from EUMETSAT:

  • January 6, 0900 UTC to January 13, 2020, 0900 UTC:M-B Met-11 prime spacecraft, with both Met-9 and Met-11 image data and Meteorological products disseminated in parallel.M-B Met-9 data, rectified to 0M-BM-0, will be distributed with "PAR" in the filenames.
  • January 13, 0900 UTC to January 20, 2020, 0900 UTC:M-B Met-9 prime spacecraft, with image data and Meteorological products (rectified to 0M-BM-0) disseminated.M-B "PAR" removed from Met-9 filenames.M-B Met-11 decontamination begins with no data dissemination.M-B Met-10 available in case of Met-9 anomalies.
  • January 20, 0900 UTC to January 27, 2020, 0900 UTC:M-B Met-9 prime spacecraft (continues), with both Met-9 and Met-11 image data and Meteorological products disseminated in parallel.M-B Met-9 data rectified to 0M-BM-0.M-B Met-11 data will be distributed with "PAR" in the filenames.M-BM-B
  • January 27, 2020, 0900 UTC:M-B Met-11 back to prime 0M-BM-0 satellite.M-B "PAR" removed from Met-11 filenames.M-B Met-9 data dissemination stops.
  • January 27, 0900 UTC to February 3, 2020, (time TBC):M-B Met-9 SEVIRI decontamination with no data dissemination.M-B Met-10 available as prime 0M-BM-0 satellite backup in case of Met-11 anomalies.
  • February 3, 2020, (time TBC):M-B Met-9 available as backup spacecraft to support prime 0M-BM-0 mission.M-B

NOAA/NESDIS plans to distribute only Met-9 data from the PDA system and GEODIST starting 1700 UTC, January 9, 2020.M-B At 1900 UTC, January 23, 2020, NOAA/NESDIS will switch back to the distribution of only Met-11 data from the PDA and GEODIST.M-B Importantly, to ensure accurate Meteosat data receipt during the overall procedure, users should have NESDIS PDA subscriptions to both Met-9 and Met-11, with and without "PAR" in the filenames.M-B The temporary switch to Met-9 data distribution at NOAA/NESDIS should not impact McIDAS users unless your data processing precisely keys on "Meteosat-11" or SSID "354."
